I grew up watching the original trilogy and loved them.
The next three were poor and Jar Jar Binks was just awful.
But even though greedy George Lucas allowed every facet of his films to be subject to merchandising, he could never match the hype and marketing that Disney have managed, to the point of utter saturation.
I have even seen Boba Fett sanitary towels and Princess Leia fungal nail ointment for goodness sake!
The Force Awakens better be worth the hype.

I bet it is really fucking shit. Episode I and II (the new lot) was crap and having Ewan McGregor as Obi K and that Danish sounding bloke as Darth Vader was pathetic.
Problem there is an audience out there who will lap it up regardless of how good it is. Others who want to see a good epic film I expect will be disappointed.

Loved them as a kid. Doesn't interest me these days.
That new PS4 game looks mental though.

So far the press thats been allowed to see it said its 100% Star Wars although the have all had to sign a NDA which prohibits reviewing until tomorrow.
On another note My son found these the other day...excellent

Will watch it after Christmas when it's calmed down a bit... got a couple of geeks at our work going dressed up as jedis with plastic light sabres... cinema first couple of days the cinemas are gonna be full of these weirdos

I've seen seen it, I the end the bad guy turns out to be Luke Skywalker so it's no different to the older (and newer) one in that the Anakin Skywalker story happens all over again to his son.
